GOODBYE SEPTEMBER

" RED.....A color whose hue resembles that of blood or of the ruby or is that of the long-wave extreme of the visible spectrum. In the color range between a moderate orange and a russet or bay". ( Webster )The red rose will be gone but replaced with leaves of gold and bright orange, some red. Sound so poetic and looking so beautiful. Changing the color of the mornings. Shadows that are longer. And then the M E S S ......WORK, RAKE, BURN. Love fall.

Got another package yesterday for the CHUNKY BOOK SWAP-GOT BLING....hopefully the others will arrive in the next 15 days..........Who0Hoo.....Diane

LAST FLOWERS OF SUMMER

What an interesting flower this is.....I don't know the name of it. It was given to me by a friend. It looks like a Crocus and it is a bulb, but I didn't know they had one that bloomed in the late summer. The flowers are about as big as my fist and really quite beautiful.

I got to work on some art yesterday.....I was going through withdrawals since my trip down south. I worked on a PAT Swap that I am in over at MAIL ART WORLD. http://www.mailartworld.com/forum/gallery/index.php?n=1722 What a fun swap. Everyone picks a picture they like and then 5 people make make you a 4 x 4 Chunky Book Page of that picture..My picture was a black and white dog and the first page was fantastic. Can't wait to see the others. I didn't have time to photograph the ones I made yesterday but boy it was fun. Really different to HAVE to work with the same photo.

The Magic of Fall

Like a curtain that has dropped is Fall. We were down in the valley for a week and when we came home fall beat us to it. The back porch was inches deep with leaves from the 60 year old pear tree. The days are shorter and the temperatures much cooler. The colors are just starting to change. The air feels different, fresher..........After a summer full of smoke from the forest fires it would.

My Dad had his 90th. surprise birthday. It was fun to see my whole family together, three new baby's and one more on the way and two new boyfriends. Families grow and change. Love is the glue that holds us all together through the laughter and the tears. Today my brother is having a huge party to celebrate BEING ALIVE. He is cancer free for one year. He is the bravest person I know, a strong and quiet man. Celebrate LIFE today....it is precious. Love, Diane

I LOVE PARIS IN THE SUMMER

The thought of going to Paris thrills me. I am sure I will never make it there but I can dream. Being on an airplane for so many hours really does me in. I don't think I could stand that many hours flying. Four or five hours to get to Hawaii is about all I can take. So I guess international travel is out for me...This postcard was fun and I am really happy with the way she turned out. Yes little buddy......I am hooked on postcards. Have a Cutting edge day......Diane

I LOVE BLING

Pretty in pink, I think!!!.....I just love this photograph. I would love to know the history behind it. Was she a movie STAR? Anyway she almost didn't need any Bling with her dress and hair and fancy hat. This is a 4" X 4" Chunky book page. It will be punched on the upper left side and held together with a binder ring that opens so you can add pages if you want. She has more yarn and beads that hang from the right side that don't show in this photo.. Think Pink Today...Diane

RARE FLOWER

This beautiful Orchid just had to find it's way into my art. It was taken from "The Victorian Scrap Gallery" book. The book is by Dee Davis and Gail B. Cooper and was bargain priced at Barn and Nobel for only 6.98............what a bargain. It has many lovely pictures in it. It is made for the collage artist so all the copyrights are clear. It is a beautiful book and I just scan from it as I could never cut up the book itself. Have a creative weekend......Hugs, Diane

Nothing is Worth More Than This Day

Postcard art is catching on with a fever. The size is 4" x 6" which is a great size for your art work. Although the 1" x 1" is also having a big following, at my age they are a bit too small for my eyes. I have made many Artist Trading Cards, they are fun and at 2.5 x 3" they are easy to work on and fun to collect. I have a large binder full of them. I have been collecting them for about two years now. I love the Chunky Book Pages too. I find for myself that I need to mix it up a bit or I get board...I always like to try new things and need to start a large canvas any time soon. Have BLESSED DAY......Diane

Three Minutes of Wonderful

Once again here is my Sunday Postcard. The challenge was to alter a real postcard. The old postcard I used was a pair of Sarus Cranes. The postcard was from the Bird Park on Santa Catalina Island, California. I am not sure the date of the postcard but the place to put you stamp is one cent....Have a JOY FULL day....Diane

Beauty All Around Us

I just wanted to share a couple of shots that I got while over on the coast. These were taken at our hotel, I love the Neptune fountain and the great piece of drift wood. We stopped in the Redwoods while over there. They are so grand and you really feel small in the whole picture of things. After all they have lived here for 100's of years, if you cut one down dozens come back on the stump and they have to be tested by fire before a seed can even grow.
Now I am feeling bad that I didn't even go to the beach while I was there.......It was so o o o o windy I don't think I could have stood still to take a picture, and the beach will be there next time..... but those buys that I got while antiquing would not... I received my first returns for the GOT BLING SWAP. And I am telling you they are great, and its not too late to join. There are only 9 members and I would love 10 people, really open for 15 and its still early so if you like making 4x4 pages or would like to try them, sign up.... Have an artful day. Diane

Happy Birthday Jan

After a wonderful long weekend at the coast, I am refreshed and relaxed. We don't get many 3 day weekends, so we really appreciate them. We had a great Hotel, lots of room to kick-back in. We thought about going to the movies but didn't see much worth seeing. Not all that into some of the flicks that were out there. We did enjoy some great meals and walked along the docks. It was really sunny which is unusual, mostly foggy over there and much cooler which is why we go there this time of the year..Escape the 100's.
My Husband takes his lap top so I was not entirely disconnected but I forgot to take all my passwords so I had a bit of a time looking at all my sites...Had to be a visitor on two of them but know a few back doors so it wasn't too bad....Saw that it was Jan's birthday and bought this little postcard while antiquing and thought I would scan it and sent it to her....Happy Birthday Jan!!!http://jan-jansjournal.blogspot.com/
Hope you get to eat Cake....and have a bite for me...Birthday Hugs, Diane
