MY FIRST ART SHOW

The Enchanted Florist and Tea Room did a lovely job hosting my very first art show. It was two days of Friends, Food and Fun. I am really overwhelmed with the love that was shown me. The majority of people had no idea that I did any kind of art. Just my closest friends have seen my work until this show. It was a big step for me and I can't tell you how glad I am that I finally did it and I strongly encourage all my art friends to promote yourself in your local communities. If your community has a library a Tea Shop or Gift shop gather your art together and SHARE YOUR JOY.....You won't be disappointed. Big Art Hugs, Diane

LIVE LAUGH LOVE

Take giant steps. Get your art out there to the neighborhood. Share your JOY. Tonight I am sharing my work with a few friends. We are having a wine tasting/Art Show at the Tea Room here in town. I invited a few close friends. Most of them have not seen my art before. Or seen it on line only. My BFF is coming up. I am nervous. It took almost three hours last night to set up, but we had fun. Tomorrow is the B I G day. I invited all my family and a few close friends to a open house. We are serving cookies and punch, and for four hours I will be out of my element. Showing my art. Its funny how you get talked into something. And here I am trying to talk you into sharing your art with others too. We have a large Quilting group here in our little town. They all know me but didn't know I do art...They do now, and after tomorrow the will have seen it all...I am taking pictures for my Mom and family down south so maybe I will share some with my blog friends too. This is a big step for me, but I figured it was time. Wish me luck!!! Diane

Dream Big

I have done a series of 6" x 6" canvases. I enjoyed this little guy. Last night I started a bigger canvas. I love working on canvas and I love the larger size...I can't believe I haven't used my Epson printer to its fullest capacity. It will print 13 x19 paper and I have a brand new pack sitting here. I have only used it once to print one of my photographs. After struggling to print some legs for my new project I went....duh... make a copy with the big paper....I have not used it because the paper is expensive and of course the ink cost go up too...but I finally have just the right project for it...stay tuned. Bloom and Grow

This little 6 x 6 Canvas was fun. The image of the little girl was purchased from Etsy and the wings were carefully cut out and gifted to me from Tumblefish Marsha. If you haven't checked out Marsha's site and art you are really missing something. She is H O T......her work is pure. Pure color, pure original and pure fun. Her link is on my last post so go there and check her out you will not be disappointed. http://tumblefishstudio.blogspot.com/

Gypsie's, Tramps and Thieves

Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves is the theme for the latest swap that I am in.. The work that everyone it putting into this swap is fantastic. A group of very talented artist that I am proud to be associated with. A fun group full of banter and laughter. Lots of ideas to keep the creative juices flowing.
Well I have lost a few things in the mail lately. After two years of swapping art through the mail it has finally happened to me. I just sent a postcard inside an envelope for protection and it didn't make it to the person. She thinks maybe someone is taking it out of her mailbox so it is no fault of the U.S.P.O.

Happy Easter Postcards

Happy Easter everyone...Hope you have a lovely day planned with family and friends. Good food and good memories of past holidays. These are some of the symbols of the holiday of Easter. I just learned why the egg is part of the celebration. Didn't get it all but it went something like this (The church forbid the eating of eggs for a week before the Resurrection) not sure which church maybe Catholic. Anyway it went something like that...any other knowledge on this let me know. Anyway....lets not forget what happened on the third day....Diane

Monochromatic Swap

These are the 4 X 4 Chunky pages that I made for a swap I am in. I mailed them the other day. I like to take pictures of my work before I send it off. I always have a picture of the individual page and sometimes I do a group shot.. The red just had to have a group shot. I often post the individual pages a few days apart, but my blog time has been rather limited lately so this time I figured I would just show them all.
I have spent most of my computer time at Etsy looking for Collage sheets to use in my art. Let me tell you there are many to choose from and you can really eat up the time searching. And like most things, it is easy to get sidetracked. Isn't it great now between downloads and paypal you can have your new collage sheet within hours instead of days through the mail. Saves money on postage. The first sheets I bought a few years ago were mailed to me now just a click away...almost too easy. Seek the beauty of today....tomorrow is here soon enough. Diane
P.S.
If you haven't heard of Tim Holtz you are more than likely not into altered art or if you are and haven't heard of him I am glad to be the first to tell you about him. Better yet check out his site here. http://www.timholtz.com/index.html

Silent Screen Beauties

Beauties of the Silent Screen was the challenge I joined for a postcard swap. Oh...yes and Zetti her too. I wanted to use this image and so the only Zetti thing is of course her stripe stockings. However the hat and fan are Zetti fun items too. I was afraid to mail her without an envelope because of the copper door(German Scrap) and black paper German scrap on the top of the card. Have a fun filled weekend. Relax and enjoy the changing weather. Hugs, Diane

Oueen for a Day Postcard

This was made for a swap. Postcards are so much fun to work on...Love the size but I guess I am just 4 x 4 chunky junky....I love the ribbons and charms and such, and I love the way they go into little books. But postcards are fun to make too. I think I may have had a swap lost in the postal system. It is really a bummer if it doesn't get to the host this week... I was the third person to add art to it. The first person does some art on three cards then mails them to the second person on the list. The second person adds more art then mails the three card to the third person who was me, and I finish the art and mail two cards to the first person...Anyway if she doesn't get them that means two people are out of the card...sad. I will make them a copy of the one that I kept and send them each a copy but it is not as good as the real ones..Oh well stuff happens and then more stuff happens...

I just wanted to add that I have been sending mail all over the world for about two years now and this is the first thing that didn't get there. I guess I have been lucky, others have had a few more problems. I mailed two things this day, one was a postcard that I sent in an envelope for protection. It was going to Netherlands, so I posted the card inside just so she could have the stamp and postmark...Well...the postcard fell out of the envelope. The day that I got the empty envelope with a notice on it, she got the postcard...She said it was the fasted mail she had ever gotten from the U.S. Go figure. Have an artFULL April....................Diane
