Light up the Night

Lighting up the night at Christmas time is something that we do to give back to our little community. Every year my Husband goes to this extreme project to thrill the town and the children of the town. He starts putting up the lights way before Thanksgiving so that Thanksgiving night we can turn them on and start the Christmas Merriment.  Most of the old lights have been traded for the new LED lights which save a lot of energy and money.  We went to the annual Christmas dinner with the Rotary International.  Every year we get invited by our friend to be their guest. The food is so fabulous, the Turkey moist and the stuffing fluffy. Yams and mashed potatoes, pie and wine. yummmm

After we stopped at one of the churches and viewed their Live Nativity.  It was wonderful they all wore beautiful costumes and the animals were all live, moo and bah and goose and duck. Songs of Christmas being sung. Truly a blessing.  I hope they do it again next year.  They went to a lot of work for this two day event.

My prayer is for an end to Cancer. My blessings go out to all those suffering with Cancer that they might have a new year Cancer free.............I believe in the power of prayer.            Hugs and well wishes...Diane Glass

Seasons

We are suppose to take a lesson from nature.  Always changing, growing, surviving the storm that life gives us.  Learning to bend a little in the wind, not break.  Shovel a little when it gets too deep and cry a little when it gets too dry.  Life is a lot like nature. It never gives you more that you can bear and always renews its self even changed and stronger.  Hope in the new dawn.  Strength in the new night and Peace in the new day.....................DIANE

FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR 2008

Last weekend was the awards banquet and dinner for our fire department. It was a nice evening with friends. My husband was almost floored when they called him to the front to accept the award for "Firefighter Of The Year 2008" He was very surprised and honored to accept this as it is voted on by the whole department.

There was a thunderstorm that passed by last night and it started a fire in the hills very close to town. Very early to be dry enough to burn, we are all hoping that we don't have a repeat of last year's fires that burned all summer long and destroyed so much of the natural beauty around us and cost many lives.

Christmas Eve

This morning I was so excited to see new snow when I got up, I jumped into some clothes and my boots to take some pictures. It was 6:45 a.m. and I ran across the street, still dark, to take some pictures of our house. No jacket, just a flannel shirt. A car or two went by, probably wondering what "She" doing? OK......I got some shots..............it can stop now. Gotta have the roads clear for Christmas Day and all the travelers, mainly my son and daughter-in-law with our two grandchildren..MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE...........HUGS MY FRIENDS AND CHRISTMAS BLESSINGS. And if you are down and out and sorta sad this year, with the loss of a loved one or financial security or just a little blue, missing family and friends here is an extra HUG & PRAYER. Diane

Lily in my Yard

Fall is in the air.......Some how you just know. By the feel in the air and the slight drop in the evening temperatures. School starting. The days are getting a little shorter. I love the four seasons, some a little more than others. We had a very short summer because of the smoke filled sky's. No sunshine. Our little valley just held that smoke in, like valleys do. It is so nice now, to see the mountains and the blue sky. Yesterday the fluffy clouds filled the sky. Things are getting back to normal around here. Seek Joy.........Diane

Lime Complex Fire, Trinity County

Well we have been living in the smoke filled mountains for almost 4 weeks now. The fire fighters are amazing....They are well trained and diligent in their efforts. There have been very few injury's, no structures lost. The forest however has burned close to 140,000 acres. That is not counting the surrounding county's, Shasta Co., Butte Co. and on, and on in California. The president will be in Shasta Co. today and fly over our area and the fires here.
Our friend Fritz took these pictures. The first photo was taken Tuesday about 7:00 p.m. It was quite scary and only about 10 or 15 miles from our town. It looks like two large fires might burn together..I don't know what our forest will be like when this is over, or how long it will take to recover. I remember Yellowstone...new life starts in the spring, slow but sure the renewal comes.
GOD BLESS THE FIREFIGHTERS.....They leave their family's to protect us. We pray for their safe return.
