Mother Nature Has the Last Say

Well, I got to see my Grandson make a snowman..........but it was via E-Mail. Our son and daughter-in-law got snowed in the worst snow storm in 58 years!!!! I was so disappointed, but in the end glad that they were safe in their own backyard. We mailed their gifts yesterday, so their Christmas from us will be a little late. We won't get to see them opened, hear the giggles or make the gingerbread house that I wanted but there will be other days to share. Days warmed by the sun. Memories for them of the Christmas that they didn't make it to the Grandparents house and all the fun they had playing in their own backyard.......................... Diane

Christmas Eve

This morning I was so excited to see new snow when I got up, I jumped into some clothes and my boots to take some pictures. It was 6:45 a.m. and I ran across the street, still dark, to take some pictures of our house. No jacket, just a flannel shirt. A car or two went by, probably wondering what "She" doing? OK......I got some shots..............it can stop now. Gotta have the roads clear for Christmas Day and all the travelers, mainly my son and daughter-in-law with our two grandchildren..MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE...........HUGS MY FRIENDS AND CHRISTMAS BLESSINGS. And if you are down and out and sorta sad this year, with the loss of a loved one or financial security or just a little blue, missing family and friends here is an extra HUG & PRAYER. Diane

Christmas in the Mountains

Christmas in the Mountains. It is snowing now and the trees are white and beautiful. I am trying not to worry about my family that is on the road in the next few days. We will be busy at work today. The snow seems to get everybody out and about and in a festive mood. Three more days til Christmas. I am done with all my shopping and am trying to concentrate on things to do with the boys when they get here. I bought a gingerbread house kit. Had to. Gran wanted to make one and take some pictures. I am going to make the house so it will be good and dry when they get here then they can decorate it. I can't wait. I am still trying to think of some games but it looks like we will have some snow to play in...May all your family travel safe, by plane or train or car..........Hugs, Diane

Five Days til Christmas

I have to admit I am getting excited for Christmas. I am excited to not have to work six days a week. I am excited to get back to my art. But I am especially excited for Christmas Day. Our son and daughter-in-law will be here with our two beautiful grandson's. Our newest grandson is just two and has never been here before. I am hoping that we get just the right amount of snow. (just enough to play in) and not enough to block their road here. We got to see them in August and had fun but we sure wish we didn't live so far apart. We only get to see them a couple of times a year so this Christmas is very special.

Christmas Blog Party

Pretty Petals is hosting a blog CHRISTMAS PARTY. Follow this link and you can see all the lovelies that were added by all the people who have joined. There are over 100 people that signed up. http://prettypetals.typepad.com/prettypetals/2008/12/a-pretty-little-christmas-blog-party.html
The top picture is a felt and button snowman that I made, he was so fun and a good way to use up some of those buttons that we hoard...
The middle picture is a Santa that I made with a friend of mine. We just had to get together and play with clay.
The angel is a tree topper that I love. She adds a little light to a dark corner.
Well the snow finally got here and I have lost my high speed Internet but I am going over to look at the other entry's at the CHRISTMAS BLOG PARTY. Have a Happy MONDAY..............Diane

My Hero

My husband went on another fire the other evening. Everyone who is married to a firefighter knows the dinners that they leave behind. The warm bed that leave and the cold street that they stand on in the middle of the night. The ice that forms on their mustache. The things that they see, that they can't talk about. The loss of life from vehicle accidents. Dedicated to serve, volunteers to rescue. Honor to community. My Hero..... Thank a Volunteer............Diane

Vintage Postcards

Aren't they wonderful.....................old postcards. The colors are so soft and the subject matter so sweet and pure. Although they are very collectible you can still buy them for about a dollar. Some subjects go for a little more, but usually a dollar. I keep some of them in a photo album. I love to get them out and think about how much times have changed. I sometimes buy the package of them that folds out, many cards all about a state or place of interest. I recently bought one about Los Angeles.. Must have been 40 or 50 years ago...It makes me wonder if the building is still there, or if this little bit of history is all that is left. Diane

Pearl Harbor

Today we honor the Veterans of WW2. And we reflect on the price of freedom. We remember and pay respect to those who so gallantly served our country. The memories they have still haunt them. And thanks to them we are free.
And today we should thank those who are far from home in foreign places protecting us while we are in the comfort of our homes and families. They protect our freedom and sacrifice for all of us...We pray for their safe return. We pray for peace......Diane

Twenty Days til Christmas

Yes, it is going fast. I hope all your plans are coming together. Hope you are staying STRESS FREE!! And I hope you are finding time to do some ART...........I spent yesterday finishing up all my unfinished art projects. Tying together loose ends...finishing the back of 4x4 pages for a swap. Mailing an altered CD for a swap. Painting the edges of several canvases. Cleaning my work space AGAIN. Oh and I finished decorating the living room, at least I think I am finished. You know how that goes...you find just one more thing to add to the festivities........R & R...Diane

Seek Joy and Laughter

Laughter is a healing force that leads to JOY. December is a month to seek Joy and Laughter with friends and family not stress of shopping and cooking and cleaning...Learn to say no to stress by just letting something go. If you are running out of time and didn't get the refrigerator clean just pass a warm wet cloth over the most obvious shelves and do the deep cleaning after the first of the year....make food dishes that can be prepared 2 or 3 days ahead. Don't be afraid to ask for help from a family member. They may not do it just like you but let some control go....it will be good enough. And really....how perfect does vacuuming have to be? Most of all save time for yourself...Do your nails. Get your hair done. Do some Art. You will enjoy your family more if you are stress free and relaxed. The laughter will come easy and Joy will be with you through out the new year..........Hugs, Diane
