Blogger Award

Well I received a blog award from a new friend. Her name is Tina and her blog is "All things Crafty" http://thingsandplacesforkids.blogspot.com/ She has some very fun ways to play and do art with your children or grandchildren..I loved her idea to use bird seed instead of sand for a playtime sandbox. You can hide little toys in the bird seed and little hands come out clean and the birds can clean up the mess...Great idea and lots more so check out her blog.

Here is how this award works. I have to tell Seven things about myself and then pass this award on to Seven other people who have blogs that are fun and interesting, so here goes.

1. Blogging boosts my confidence and has re-newed my ability for spelling and grammar. It is always a challenge and thank goodness for spellcheck. (though I understand it is not 100%).

2. I never thought I would enjoy sharing my art.

3. I love where I am in my life. Husband, Job, Art.

4. I am only on #4????? this is hard.

5. I miss some of my Friends that I met on the first ATC site I joined a couple of years ago. One person I tried over and over to contact and she never returned my call (maybe she thought I was a stocker???) Another one was over seas and I think about her now and then. She did some great art and was generous and kind.

6. I am amazed at how close you feel to people you meet in cyber space.

7. My biggest fear and worry right now is about my brother who is very sick, I pray for him every day many times.

Queen's of a Feather

Queen's of a feather flock together. That is sorta how I feel about all my artsy friends..They are all sorta QUEENLY. We love crowns and wings and imaginary things. Just for the fun of it. We doodle we splash paint, we use colors that others don't see. We stash things that others would throw out and always find a use for it. We make little treasure boxes out of a match box and jewelry out of old broken watch pieces. We solder, we glue, we tear up paper and put it back together all in the name of art. We are scientist of art, always experimenting with a new technique wanting to try everything that is creative. Wanting to share and inspire others, making new friends in distant places. Creative Art Room

Well I just had to complete the tour of my very busy Art Space. I love to fill my room with things that inspire me. Sometimes from other artist, sometimes just things that I collect at flea markets and antique stores. This is my space, the place that I am lucky enough to have. The joy that I find here is unmeasurable. The lighting is great, I am blessed to have it at this time in my life. My art was on the back burner for many years and is now in full swing. How wonderful the Internet is here to bring us closer to people with the same interest. Inspiration at our fingertips, friends far and near. Thank you for sharing your time with me.....Diane

Wall to Wall Art

Just thought I would share these pictures of my studio. I took these pictures to show my mother. I put them on a DVD so we could view them on her big screen TV...but for some reason we couldn't view them. For some reason it was the wrong format. So she had to settle for the Laptop view...Believe it or not.....my room was fairly neat when these were taken because I put away a bunch of stuff and cleaned up so when I got home I would have a fresh start. Oh but when I am in the middle of a project everything gets pulled out and gone through. And boy can it look a mess.....I admit it.....I have too much stuff. That is just me I guess, I am a collector of many things and love the hunt as much as I love the prospect of using some discarded funky thing in my next art project....ART ON..............Diane

Baby Makes Four

Welcome baby Julia Grace. Born last nite 8# 7 oz. Mother and baby are doing great. Can't wait to see a picture of our new little family member.

Welcome Baby

My Niece Naomi is expecting her 4th. baby any day now. In fact I think she is overdue. They are having a little girl. Her name is still only known to the two of them, their little secret to keep just for themselves. Naomi is my Brother's oldest child, a special person in every way. I made one of my first quilts for her when she was born and now I have made one for her baby. I got to give it to her in person when we went to see my Mother. She was very happy with it and loved the bright colors, but most of all she loved the Tweety Bird fabric I found to go in the quilt. She grew up being called Tweety because she has the cutest little Tweety lips. It is sad to think I may not get to see the new addition for a year but that is the life I live. That of a long distance Auntie. I will get the phone call in the middle of the night I have been promised. There is no news better then the birth of a new little person....Hugs, Diane

Marie Antoinette

Marie Antoinette is such a rage in the Mail Art world. This is an ATC made for a swap. I used an image that was not the traditional formal view of the lady...What I think she might have looked like on her day off.....I haven't done any ATC size art in awhile. It was fun. Spring is on the way although today it is down to 18 degrees. It will warm up this afternoon I am sure. Anyway I hope you have a bright and fun art filled day. Diane

FAIRIES IN THE WOODS

Fairies in the Woods is a 4" x 4" page for a swap I am in. There are 6 players and each person picks a picture that they like and every player makes them a page using that picture. It can be altered in any way and you can use all or part of the picture anyway you want...This is the girl I picked and it will be fun to see how the other artist use her in their art. I will show you the other pages I do and when it is done I will show you the pages the others have made for me...Happy Art day to you...Diane

Flying is Fun

We got to take a little trip to see my Mother. I love to fly. It is all the hassle getting to the airport that I don't like. We live about 5 hours from the airport so to catch an early flight you really need to get a room near the airport the night before. That part is fun but the drive isn't. Actually the weather was so bad this trip that we had to leave two days ahead or risk getting snowed in...At least the day we flew out the weather was clear and clear on our return flight. We had a great time visiting everyone. I am waiting to hear if my niece has had her baby yet..she is due any day. I got to give her the quilt I made for her new baby. It was nice to be there when she opened it. I think she is waiting for her Dad to get out of the Hospital (my Brother). The Dr. said he will be able to go home Wednesday. Jewels and Bling and Sparkly Things

Here I go again spending time going through photos that I have taken of different fun things. This is Stella....I had just gotten her and didn't have anything to dress her in so I took one of my slips a very old lacy table scarf and some beaded fruit that my sister had given me. She looks different now, with winter and all I put a beaded jacket on her. I have used her to display all the necklaces that I have made and she is a fun addition to my art room. ZETTI postcard

This was fun, I made it for a Thursday Postcard Challenge the theme of course being Zetti. I love Zetti's they can be just about anything. This one just sorta evolved while I was looking for images to use. The snail is from clip art I bought from Tim Holtz. I have had the legs along time, they are from Teesha Moore. The tickets I just received in a "swap of stuff" every month we swap misc. art papers and do dads and bits of this and that..I am very happy with her and will find it hard to part with.
